Meeschaert founded France's first ethical fund in 1983, at the request of religious congregations who wanted to be sure that their investments were not in conflict with their values and were made in companies that do business in the interest of mankind and its development.
That same year, some congregations also founded Ethique et Investissement, which, on the basis of some 20 criteria, recommends investment in companies that show a genuine concern for people and society through their business activities, social policy and respect for the environment.
Special requirements
Through its discussions with congregation leaders and treasurers, Meeschaert has learned that the concerns of most congregations go beyond ethical investment. Their main objective is to ensure that their various committees, enterprises, residences, convents, etc. are self-sufficient, while fulfilling their congregation's missions.
Because each congregation is different, Meeschaert has developed special tools and methods for putting together tailor-made solutions capable of meeting their specific requirements.
